Review: "Darkest Surrender" by Gena Showalter

Possessed by the demon of Defeat, Strider cannot lose a challenge without suffering unimaginable pain. For him, nothing stands in the way of victory. Until Kaia, an enchanting Harpy, tempts him to the razor's edge of surrender.
Known among her people as The Disappointment, Kaia must bring home the gold in the Harpy Games or die. Strider is a distraction she can't afford because he has an agenda of his own—steal first prize, an ancient godly artifact, before the winner can be named. But as the competition heats up, only one prize will matter—the love neither had thought possible.

Lords of the Underworld, need I say more?  Of course I loved it!

Kaia finally shows her vulnerable side while still being a bad ass Harpy.  Strider is still trying to get over the fact that she slept with Paris and having trouble letting that go.  Kaia has lots of family issues, to put it mildly, to deal with during the Harpy games but having Strider by her side gets her through it.  Kaia finally admits to Strider that he's her consort.  Kind of funny to think of a strong warrior and demon keeper as someone's consort.  Striders warped sense of humor cracks me up!  Leave it to Strider, the keeper of defeat, to be with someone who constantly challenges him.  We also get a little time with William and Kane.  William finally tells a little more of his background, which I've been very curious about.  Paris continues his search for Sienna.  Sounds like he's going to have some major hurdles to overcome in his book.  I can't wait!  Lysander and Zacharel, the angels, are back again too.  Of course Gena has once again given us a very action packed, steamy book that I just loved.  As always, I give this LOTU book 5 stars!!!
